ViewerFX® has been actively shipping for many years. Each release has refined the product based on real customer feedback, expanded format support, and tracked Crystal Reports compatibility forward through every Crystal release.

01 — Why this page exists

Built for the long term.

Most reporting software gets abandoned after a few years. ViewerFX® has been actively maintained the entire time because Crystal Reports is still the reporting tool of choice for many organizations, and those organizations need a viewer that keeps pace with their reports.

This page exists for two audiences. Customers who need to verify the version they're running for IT inventory or audit purposes. And evaluators who want to confirm we're still actively shipping releases before committing to a purchase. The answer to both questions is yes, and here's the receipt.

    • New feature: Added compatibility for Crystal Reports 2013.

    • New feature: Added map support to viewer.

  3. Version 2.1.0

    • New feature: Added ability to export a report directly from the command line.
    • New feature: Added ability to email a report directly from the command line.
    • New feature: Added ability to use Outlook contacts when emailing reports.
    • Bug fix: Export current section did not export properly for on-demand sub-reports.

  4. Version 2.0.3

    • Bug fix: "The conversion is not supported" error would occur when trying to add a report to your favorites.

  5. Version 2.0.2

    • New feature: Added support for Crystal Reports 2008 Service Pack 2 Fix Pack 2.
    • Bug fix: "The data was truncated while converting from one data type to another" error would occur when trying to add a report to your favorites with a selection formula exceeding 2000 characters.

    • Bug fix: An "Invalid Export Type" error would occur when trying to export or FTP a report.

  7. Version 2.0.0

    • New feature: Added global login credentials for reports.
    • New feature: Added a shared reporting server (sold separately). This allows administrators of the organization to define reports for their users in a centralized location.
    • New feature: Added additional configuration options to allow administrators to configure the available features they want to provide to their users.

  8. Version 1.9.2

    • New feature: Added ability to define report folder paths in the "Manage Favorites" section. You can now create a Favorites folder that points to a physical folder path on your computer or network and access reports stored there without browsing.
    • Bug fix: Miscellaneous bug fixes.

    • New feature: Added support for Crystal Reports 2008 Service Pack 1.
    • New feature: Added "Check for Updates" to enable client-wide distribution of updates.

    • New feature: Added the ability to allow administrators to configure the available features they want to provide to their users.
    • New feature: Added feature to auto-refresh reports that contain saved data.
    • Bug fix: An "Object Variable" error would occur when parameters had a default value of "Null".
    • Bug fix: "Null" flag was not restoring properly from the database.

    • New feature: Added Record Selection Query Tool.
    • Bug fix: Certain reports with saved data would not refresh data properly.

03 — Support policy

What we support.

We provide support for the current version and the two most recent prior versions. Older versions still work but no longer receive bug fixes or feature updates. Customers running older versions can upgrade to the latest release at no cost as long as they hold a valid license.

  • Current version: 3.0.0 (latest release, full support)
  • Prior version: 2.1.1 (full support, security and stability fixes only)
  • Two versions back: 2.1.0 (limited support, security fixes only)

Running an older version?

If you hold a valid ViewerFX® license and you're running an older version, you can upgrade to the latest release at no cost. Just download the latest installer and register with your existing license key.
