01 — Prerequisites
What you'll need.
ViewerFX® is a Windows application. Make sure your system meets these basic requirements before installing.
- Windows 10 or later (Windows Server 2016 or later for Server Edition)
- Crystal Reports runtime is included; no separate Crystal Reports installation required
- Administrator privileges to run the installer
- Approximately 200 MB of disk space
- Internet connection for license registration (one-time)
02 — Installation
Step by step.

Download the installer
Download the appropriate installer for your environment. Standard Edition is for individual desktops. Server Edition is for Citrix or Terminal Server environments where multiple users access ViewerFX® through a shared server.

Run the installer
Right-click the downloaded .exe file and select "Run as administrator." Windows User Account Control will prompt for confirmation. The installer will guide you through the process and accept default settings for most environments.

Accept the license agreement
Read and accept the ViewerFX® license agreement to continue. The agreement covers your rights and obligations as a licensee.

Choose installation location
The default location (Program Files) works for most installations. Change it only if your IT environment requires a custom path.

Complete installation
The installer copies files, registers components, and creates Start menu shortcuts. This takes about a minute on most systems.

First launch
Launch ViewerFX® from the Start menu or desktop shortcut. The first time it runs, you'll see the registration window where you can enter your license key or continue in trial mode.
03 — Server Edition
Notes for Citrix and Terminal Server.
Server Edition installations follow the same general steps as Standard Edition but include additional configuration for multi-user environments.
- Install Server Edition on the Citrix or Terminal Server host, not on individual user desktops
- The license is per server, not per user, so unlimited users can access ViewerFX® through the same server
- Published applications and seamless windows are both supported
- For load-balanced or farm environments, install Server Edition on each server in the farm

04 — Troubleshooting
Common issues.
- The installer won't run
- Make sure you're running the installer as administrator. Right-click the .exe file and select "Run as administrator." If Windows SmartScreen blocks the installer, click "More info" and then "Run anyway" to proceed.
- Installation fails partway through
- Check that no other ViewerFX® instance is running and that you have at least 200 MB of free disk space. If a previous installation exists, uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs before installing a new version.
- ViewerFX® won't open my .rpt file
- ViewerFX® supports Crystal Reports files created with version 8.5 or later. Older .rpt files may need to be opened and re-saved in a more recent Crystal Reports version first.

05 — Next step
Register your license.
Once ViewerFX® is installed, register your license key to activate the features included with your edition. The registration window appears the first time ViewerFX® runs after installation.
